A pleasant mix of smells of cinnamon, apple, banana leaves and seasonings coming from the kitchen; interacted harmoniously with the unmistakable smell of fresh pine, recently spread all over the floor of the house, forming the magical CHRISTMAS perfume.
NOBODY DIES ON CHRISTMAS EVE
A phrase that resonated in my brain every December and that had a lot of meaning throughout my childhood each time a family member or friend got sick was, nobody dies on Christmas Eve. My mother would repeat it to me, while she caressed my hair when she saw me worried about someone’s health. Then my Spirit would rejoice, my faith strengthened and the hope that everything would be okay was reborn in my heart.
Have you ever received unexpected news that has left you speechless, stunned, leaving total silence throughout your environment in its wake?
Have you ever experienced the pleasant sensation of being silent, contemplating the expressions and attitudes of your loved one, while speaking to them face to face?
Feeling that the air is missing, the lack of your voice unleashes fear inside me. The anxiety of having lost you so suddenly has doubled, invading my chest with pain. I can’t breathe! My tears close my throat, my senses drowned, inflamed by your memory.
I am tied to your life … As if the umbilical cord had never been cut.
In the journey of life there are trips that are short and other trips that are long. However, standing with your head up is very difficult when you feel as if your whole being is breaking into pieces.
WHILE THERE IS LIFE THERE IS HOPE, a phrase used worldwide to express that we can always find solutions to conflicts, that we can face in each period of our lives. A phrase that has inspired movies, theories, and motivated seminars, referring to the possibility of a better existential future, when we have hope in our hearts.
I know I have not been writing often and for those who have asked me, why? I want to tell you that I have been working on the edition of my book “El Aguanima de Peten” and at the same time on the process of converting “The King of the Farm” into a book. Both books will be published very soon. But here I share this publication that I wrote one night when I dreamed that my brother-in-law and his little daughter were reunited after a long time of being separated.
The COVID-19 pandemic has come as a thief in the night, SILENT, RAPACIOUS AND DESTRUCTIVE, moving slowly. Without feet or shoes, it does not make any noise, becoming completely UNNOTICED.
In the middle of the party, Fred stopped the music and shouted, “It’s time to open the presents. But this time I will not be the first one to give out the gifts I bought. Because we have a mysterious businessman who anonymously sent us many gifts, coincidentally with the number of people in our house. But let me tell you that my heart knows that the mysterious man is called Ebenezer! Uncle Ebenezer, I give you the honor of being the first one to deliver the gifts. And I must add that we have no gift to give you this Christmas because we did not know that you would be here with us, but tomorrow I will personally take your Christmas gift to your office.”

About an hour had passed since Ebenezer returned home and went to bed, so his body regained the physical strength he needed to continue enjoying Christmas Day. When he woke up, his spirit was overflowing with youth, and his eyes had the brightness of happiness and satisfaction produced by being honest and generous with other people. Standing in front of the mirror, Ebenezer spoke; joy expressed in his words. “I feel like a youngster, with all the desire to live my life and enjoy everything around me, but with wisdom. I must take care of my health, if I want to live many more years. Because the mirror reminds me that although my spirit became strong, vigorous and young, my body has deteriorated over time. But that will not be an impediment for my attitude to always be positive and cheerful.”
