SHARED DREAM

Recently, Guatemala has gained a lot of notoriety for the achievements attained at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Guatemalan athletes have defended their dreams of winning an Olympic medal. Although most Guatemalans are unaware of the years of preparation and constant struggle of each participant, we have been proud of the performance of each of them. Although we have not actively participated in their personal preparation to be able to participate in the Olympic Games, we have identified with them and embraced their sporting spirit to the point of sharing their dreams of winning an Olympic medal in the different sports in which they participate.

In Guatemala, specifically in my town of Jutiapa, there are many people with great artistic ability and a lot of talent to develop those qualities, but with very few opportunities to stand out and show the world how talented they are. If I go back in time, I could name several outstanding people in the artistic world who did not manage to cross the border lines of my country. Today, borders have been torn down by technological advances or social networks. Which allows us to have at our fingertips various opportunities to seek success in various branches of science, sports, music, acting, etc.

At the presentation of one of my books in Jutiapa, I had the opportunity to meet Cristian Salguero, who at the time was a local singer who entertained the audience during the book presentation. I don’t know if Cristian remembers, but after hearing him sing, I approached him and told him that he sang very well with a beautiful voice. That day, I was very sought after by my friends. So, when I was free, I looked for him to talk, but Cristian had already left. I didn’t see him again, until suddenly he appeared on television as a participant in La Academia. I felt very happy for what Cristian was achieving. International news has recently shown other Jutiapa residents who have excelled and managed to achieve their dreams on their own. Without help and perhaps without the support of the Guatemalan people.

I cannot say much about the Olympic athletes because I do not know the story of the struggle with which each of them achieved success. Although I remember that in my childhood I met the family of Adriana Ruano, winner of the first Olympic gold medal for Guatemala, due to ignorance, we as a country did not support the Guatemalan Olympic athletes from the beginning. Until we learned about them through the media or saw them competing in Paris in 2024. The sixteen Guatemalan athletes are winners, since with great performance and great pride they represented our country. That is why all of Guatemala celebrates and shares their success. With Cristian Salguero, the situation is different. Cristian has made himself known publicly as a participant in La Academia and requires the support of all of Guatemala to remain in the competition, demonstrating the ability he has to win it.

The day I met Cristian Salguero, I thought he was a shy young man, but he had a lot of artistic potential that he could develop. The opportunity that came into his life to grow as a singer is wonderful, and I hope he can make the most of it. On this occasion, there is no ignorance of the efforts that Cristian Salguero is making to improve professionally. There is also no ignorance that, due to the rules of The Academy, Cristian requires that all of us, as the people of Jutiapa, express our support by voting for him every day. I also invite all of Guatemala to join the voting process that is essential for Cristian Salguero to remain active in The Academy. Since the support we give him will unite us as a country in the process of transformation from LOCAL SINGER to INTERNATIONAL SINGER in Guatemala, we will share Cristian’s dream of achieving success.

I also know that in Guatemala, it is a bit complicated to be able to participate in the voting for The Academy. Because sometimes, when we want to vote, the application tells us that it is not allowed in our region. And although this publication is a call to all of Guatemala, I want to extend the invitation to all readers of my publications who are participating in the voting process for The Academy. So when you vote for your favorite contestant, you also vote for Cristian Salguero. Especially to all the Mexicans who read what I write. I know that there are many people from Mexico who read my posts, and I take this opportunity to thank them for all their support.

Guatemalans, let’s not allow Cristian Salguero to be expelled from the Academy for lack of votes, since Cristian’s dream is a dream shared by all of us who are fighting to achieve success.
